Coach Owen Names Team Captains As Tigers Prep For Season Opener
SPRINGFIELD, OH - The Wittenberg men's lacrosse team opens the 2025 season with a home game against Westminster College. The Tigers and Titans were originally scheduled to square off at 4 p.m. outdoors at Edwards-Maurer Field, but with snow and ice still covering parts of the complex the game has been moved indoors to The Steemer and set for a 7 p.m. start time.
Heading into opening night, Head Coach Jay Owen has announced that four players will serve as team captains for the 2025 season: junior attackman Ethan Pac (Greenwood, IN / Cathedral), senior defenseman Justin Katona (Liberty Twp., OH / Lakota East), junior midfielder Tripp Salowich (Plymouth, MI / Canton), and senior midfielder Brady Ramsey (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy).
After finishing with records of 8-5 overall and 3-5 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) a year ago, the Tigers have been picked to finish sixth in the league in the 2025 Preseason Coaches' Poll that was released on Monday, February 3. Wittenberg's NCAC opener is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Wooster. The NCAC Tournament opens with semifinals Wednesday, April 30, and the championship game on Saturday, May 3.
Under Owen's direction since 2014, Wittenberg Men's Lacrosse has compiled an overall record of 73-77, including a mark of 43-37 against NCAC competition. Owen was named NCAC Coach of the Year in 2017 after leading the Tigers to a 6-2 league record, and his teams have finished .500 or better in the rugged NCAC in eight of his 10 seasons as head coach.
