Men’s Lacrosse Celebrates 12 Seniors in Season Finale
SPRINGFIELD, OH – Wittenberg's men's lacrosse team celebrated its 12 seniors during a home match against Kenyon on Saturday, April 26, in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) battle at Edwards-Maurer Field, part of the Health, Wellness & Athletics Complex. It was the final match of the season for Wittenberg.
Wittenberg's seniors honored prior to the game included Max Benincasa (Shaker Heights, OH / Shaker Heights), Nathan Brown (Dublin, OH / Coffman), Zach Busby (Cedarburg, WI / Cedarburg), Travis Demsher (Santa Clarita, CA / West Ranch), Dimitri Gonzalez (Bridgeville, PA / South Fayette), Justin Katona (Liberty Twp., OH / Lakota East), Aidan Kruse (Loveland, OH / Loveland), Nicholas Langenderfer (Montgomery, OH / St. Xavier), Charles Morawski (Glen Ellyn, IL / Glenbard West), Brady Ramsey (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy), Blake Roller (New Albany, OH / St. Charles), and George West (Dayton, OH / Chaminade Julienne). All have contributed greatly to the success of the program throughout their career at Wittenberg.
On the field, the Tigers fell to Kenyon, 22-8. The Owls scored five in the first and eight in the second and played tough on defense, holding Witt to just five first-half goals for a 13-5 lead at the break. The Owls put nine more goals on the board in the second half while holding the Tigers to three to secure the victory.
With the loss, the Tigers finished the season at 5-9 overall and 2-6 in the NCAC. Kenyon finishes the regular season at 10-6 overall and 5-3 NCAC.
Team Leaders
- Dillon McKeigue (Olmstead Township, OH / St. Edward) had a big day offensively for the Tigers, scoring four goals. He had seven shots total, with six on goal, and led the team in ground balls with six.
- Blake Roller (New Albany, OH / St. Charles) added two more goals for the Tigers. He had six shots, five on goal.
- Nathan Brown (Dublin, OH / Coffman) added one goal and three assists.
- Clay Habben (Shawnee, KS / Shawnee Mission Northwest) scored the other goal for the Tigers.
- Chase Singleton (Springboro, OH / Springboro) and Griffin Howell (Whitestown, IN / Zionsville Community) shared time in the goal. Singleton recorded six saves, while Howell tallied three.
Team Comparison
- Wittenberg had eight goals, six assists, 28 shots, 17 on goal, 29 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers.
- Kenyon had 22 goals, five assists, 58 shots, 31 on goal, 43 ground balls, and 14 caused turnovers.
