MARIETTA, OH – Wittenberg Women's Soccer fell to Carnegie Mellon University on the road at the Marietta Classic at Marietta College, on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Marietta Field.
Carnegie Mellon came out firing on all cylinders in the first half, striking for three goals en route to a 3-0 victory. The 16th-ranked Tartans had 27 shots, 13 on goal, one assist, and seven corner kicks throughout the match while holding Wittenberg to just three shots, two on goal.
Wittenberg goalkeeper Lily Winkle (Cynthiana, KY / Harrison County) recorded 9 saves and 27 shots faced on the day, while Carnegie Mellon goalkeeper recorded two saves.
The Tigers fall to 0-1-1 on the season while Carnegie Mellon improves to 1-1 after a 1-0 loss to Bridgewater, Virgina, Friday in the Marietta Tournament. In the series against Wittenberg, the Tartans are 5-1-1.
