ORLANDO, FL – Wittenberg Men's Tennis put the finishing touches on Spring Break 2025 with three matches over the course of two days on Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, in the process securing a landmark win for first-year Head Coach John DeVito.
The Tigers lost to Central (Iowa), 5-2, on Thursday morning, but then secured their first win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Northwestern (Minn.) on Thursday evening. On Friday morning, Wittenberg wrapped things up in the Sunshine State with a loss to nationally ranked NCAA Division II scholarship program Ave Maria at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
Individually, Ethan Libby (Loveland, OH / Loveland) won both of his singles matches in straight sets at the No. 1 position on Thursday, while Kyle Fout (Gahanna, OH / Gahanna Lincoln) went to three sets in both matches, winning against Central but losing against Northwestern.
It was a total team effort in the win over Northwestern, as the Tigers picked up the doubles point with wins by Libby and Jacob Bennett (Pickerington, OH / Pickerington Central) at No. 1 and the pairing of Andrew Garofoli (Springboro, OH / Springboro) and Benjamin Glassman (Woodbridge, CT / Amity Regional) at No. 3. Along with Libby, singles winners were Justin Hardie (Centerville, OH / Centerville) at No. 3, Bennett at No. 4, and Garofoli at No. 5.
