SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Wittenberg University softball standout Sarah Fetters, class of 2008 from Maumee, Ohio, put the finishing touches on a phenomenal collegiate career with second-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-America honors. She becomes just the seventh student-athlete in Wittenberg history to earn more than one Academic All-America accolade.

A solid 2008 spring sports season has reaped individual rewards for 28 Wittenberg University athletes who were selected to All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) teams over the last two weeks.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Allegheny's Abby Bodenlos repeats as Player of the Year and Ohio Wesleyan's Rachel Seibel takes Pitcher of the Year honors to highlight the 2008 All-North Coast Athletic Conference softball selections. Allegheny's Rachel Ryan and Denison's Bri Scrofano are both repeat first-team selections. Hiram's Chastine Romanello and Wittenberg seniors Sarah Fetters and Nicole Ottavi all make the move up to the first team after earning second-team recognition in previous seasons.

Wittenberg may not have made the strongest case Sunday against Hiram, but they did pick up a 'W' in one column at the expense of an 'L' in another. The Hiram Terriers took Game 1 by a score of 3-0, taking advantage of the quiet Tiger bats, while Wittenberg came back to win the second matchup 7-2.
OBERLIN, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tiger softball team made a strong case for its postseason potential Saturday with an explosive doubleheader against Oberlin. The Red & White poured in 21 runs in Game 1 and 10 in Game 2, while holding the Yeowomen to two runs in each. Both games ended after just five innings.
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — On a clear, breezy, and warm day, the weather was about all that was normal at Betty Dillahunt Softball Field in Springfield, Ohio. The Wittenberg women's softball team dropped two crucial games to the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops by scores of 0-9 and 8-15.

It took just over three hours to complete both games, including the late game which ended halfway through the fifth after the Tigers caused the 10-run rule to go into effect. The final scores were 7-0 in the early game and 12-0 in the later one.
GRANVILLE, Ohio - An eight-game winning streak came to a dead stop Wednesday, as the Wittenberg Tiger softball team committed four costly errors in game one against Denison to drop a 6-4 decision. In game two, the Tigers came back to win 7-4 over the Big Red.
TIFFIN, Ohio - A doubleheader sweep of Heidelberg kept a Tiger winning streak alive Sunday, as Wittenberg won their seventh and eighth straight, by scores of 9-8 and 4-1. The wins bring the Tigers to 14-6 on the season overall, with conference play still to begin.
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Case Western succumbed to Wittenberg's dominant pitching and their own errors, as the Tigers went on the prowl for 6-2 and 4-1 wins at home on Saturday.
